greengreenJust a quick look w/ my camera phone (which is terrible as you know). WAIT until you see these final photos. I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited to see photos like this. I’m getting all anxious thinking about it now so I’m going to stop typing.

I met up with Gregg Hubbard in Bryant Park again yesterday. He was meeting me to hear about my recent job offers & to offer me advice & put me in contact with a woman he knows who is high up in the cosmetic industry! AND he gave me a Sephora bag filled with cosmetics goodies…

MY DREAM COME TRUE!

The bag was filled with things from eyelash curlers, concelear, to Smashbox eyeliners & eyeshadows, Laura Mercier blue pallette of eyeshadow & an amazing kit of foundations! Gregg wanted to make sure I got the bag before the photo shoot happened… so nice of him!

I had never heard of the foundation before. It is called FACE Atelier & a woman created it. The products are also endorsed by PETA! Gregg told me that she even helped sponsor one of Beyonce’s tours so Beyonce has worn her foundation during performances. Gregg warned me it dries very glowy, so glowy & dewy that I may even want to tone it down depending on the finish I’m going for. I was so excited to use it on Rihanna in the shoot that night.

Rihanna is a model who recently got signed to Wilhemina modeling agency. Check out, Lauren Cowart’s, the great photographer I work with, site where Rihanna is featured. She is the first post so click here!!!

The foundation was amazing! It is a full kit & Gregg was so kind to give it to me. Check out the Face Atelier site here to see the amazing products. The foundation was so silky & blended RIGHT into the skin & had an amazing finish. The entire kit retails at $499.00!! WOW! I have such an assortment of skin colors – it’s amazing.

FaceproI used a MAC 188 Small Duo Fibre Face Brush $34.00. I have two of those brushes and have had them for probably two years – I wash them about once a week or more depending on what makeup I have going on that week.

Wait until you guys see this pics. Here’s a couple behind the scenes photos! Excuse the suckyness that is my camera phone – I hate the BB Curve.

What more could you ask for?

A few weeks ago Lauren Cowart & I managed to schedule a photoshoot we had been meaning to do for awhile. My mentor, Keith Venable who is the Creative Executive at Yves Saint Laurent Beauty, told me my portfolio was great, but needed more edge. After hearing that I had to get this photoshoot in before I parted ways with Lauren (tear). Well, we did it & I have some photos I took during the shoot.

Kelcie was of course the first person who came to mind when I thought of an edgy shoot – her face can easily handle the makeup & her poses are always immaculate. Then I thought about Jessica Couch – her face can also handle makeup & her bone structure is amazing!

We went for something dark with unusual makeup – heavy lashes, extra heavy eyebrows & even white eyeliner, which is usually a makeup no no but has been spotted on the runway recently.

I won’t go into much detail because the edited photos are not up yet, but when they are here (Lauren is so busy, she did like 5 million weddings & graduation photos!) I will surely go into detail.

Enjoy! & again, many thanks to Kelcie, who is always willing to model, to Jessica for FINALLY letting someone else do her makeup & an indefinite amount of gratitude for Lauren who is my photoshoot partner in crime!

Do not miss out on their marvelous websites either. Kelcie’s at http://www.playedwithfire.wordpress.com and Lauren’s at http://laurencowartphotography.wordpress.com

The other weekend Lauren Cowart, my favorite photographer, & I worked together!! Her stuff is SO amazing! I wanted to do something super colorful on Margaret, who agreed to be the model for the shoot. I choose a vibrant blue eyeshadow from MAKE UP FOR EVER called Turquoise Matte 72 & an amazing lipstick from NARs called “Funny Face” I layered MAC Dazzleglass lipgloss over the lipstick – Dazzleglass is a limited edition high shine gloss from MAC & I love them! Next time: I’m going to leave the lips nude, take some photos then go back in with a bright lipstick.

After shooting Margaret, I really wanted to do another look ,but it would have been too much to take all the makeup off of Margaret so Margaret and Lauren suggested I do a quick look on myself while they finished taking the last photos downstairs. I took about ten minutes to do a quick face on myself using another NARS lipstick I picked up called “Heat Wave” I did a winged eyeliner with my Loreal Lineur and used my Covergirl Lashblast Mascara that I love.

Check out a sample of the photos below – we took tons and played around.I love the colors!! Thanks so much Margaret and Lauren.

Kelcie Glass in Lauren Cowart Photoshoot - Makeup by Anna Miya

How AMAZING does Kelcie look?? Lauren had this vision of using the leaves & fall colors to play up the makeup so I decided to do an amazing cranberry lip with perfect skin. Add lashes for dramatics & a heavier brow and VOILA! I really love the results…don’t be disappointed if your makeup doesn’t always turn out how you love it – make sure you have amazing skin like Kelcie Glass & it’ll really help. I wanted to leave some photos unedited so you guys can guess which ones they are :) I love the rawness of them & how you can really see through to the makeup.

I’m not going to go through each step like I did with Amber’s makeup, but feel free to comment, twitter me, email me, text me to ask what I did!!

Make sure you check out Lauren & Kelcie’s blogs as well! Kelcie’s blog is FIRE & has some great underground& unique information that can ONLY be found on her blog. Lauren’s blog is an eye catching & super fun website that showcases all of her photography talent.

So the other night I planned a last minute photo shoot and these are the results….

(L) Kim K. Inspiration and (R) Makeup by Me on Amber Grissom

I’m MORE than satisfied.I used a picture of Kim Kardashian who had her makeup done by Mario Dedivanovic who I did a post on before. I toned down the intensity of the makeup a little bit – Amber could even wear this out to a club. I worked with Lauren Cowart, she is simply AMAZING! Check out her website HERE!Amber Grissom was the model for the shoot – she favors Kim Kardashian so I thought it was appropriate for the look I was going for.

Check out a few more photos of the shoot below. It was super relaxed & I enjoyed myself.

How I got the look:

1. Used NARS Makeup Primer $33 all over the skin with MACs 190 Foundation Brush $32

2. Mixed 2 shades of MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Invisible Cover Foundation $40 together & applied with the same foundation brush.

3.  Under the eyes I used MAC Studio Finish Concealer $16.50 with MAC’s 195 Concealer Brush $22.

4. I set the foundation & concealer with Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Loose Powder $34 with a MAC 182 Buffer Brush $45

5. I filled in Amber’s brows slightly with a MAC Eye Brow Pencil in Stud $15

6. I prepped Amber’s eye, lashline to brow, with MAC Paint in Bamboom $16.50 to give the eyeshadow something to stick to. I used a MAC 239 Eye Shader Brush $24.50 to put on the Paint.

7. I then used the same brush & loaded it with MAKE UP FOR EVER Eyeshadow in Purple 92 $19 – I used it in her crease and outer eyelid as well as below her lower lashes. I blended up upwards towards her brow.

8. I used MAC Pigments in Melon $19.50 on the inner corner of the eye using the same brush.

9. To highlight the brow I used MAC Eyeshadow Rice Paper in $14.50 with the same brush blending all of the colors together.

10. I then used a MAC 222 Tapered Blending Brush $28 to blend the eyes together and continue to build the color intensity.

11. I used Dior DiorShow Mascara $24 on her lashes. I cleaned up under her eyes with a q-tip and touched up the under eye concealer.

12. I then used MAC Powder Blush in Peachtwist $18.50 over the apples of her cheeks & blended it out to her ears using a MAC 129SH Powder Blush Brush $34.

13. Over all of this I used MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Microfinish Powder $30 with the MAC 182 Buffer Brush.

14. On the lips I used a MAC Cremestick Liner in Sublime Culture $14.50 in to outline and fill in lips.

15. Over it I used a MAC Lustre Lipstick in High Tea $14.

WHEW!!!!

16. I touched up whatever needed to be fixed and viola!! Amber’s lashes are super long so I didn’t even waste time with fake lashes.

Just a couple more pictures from the shoot we did Saturday!

I’m excited to show some of my work & learn more about how makeup photographs. I’ve never had it professionally taken before & we discovered that makeup disappears a lot when photographed so I had to add more as I went. Lauren Cowart was the amazing photographer & I’m so glad she was willing to take these pictures for me!! Thank you.

Anyway, here’s Erika as the “Flushed Hippie”. I wanted something natural, with a reddish pink flush…I got the look I was going for.

erika

For Brittany, my first idea was to go with gold, & named her the “Golden Goddess”. I like how the makeup turned out, but next time would use a heavier hand on the gold, it really does disappear in the camera lens. Take a look at Britt below!

brittbeforeafter_edited-1

You should of seen both Erika & Brittany in front of you – the makeup was too heavy for day wear. I’m definitely going to experiment more & learn as I go on how makeup is photographed. I am happy!
